We have,

4x4 + y4

(2x2)2 + (y2)2 + 4x2y2 – 4x2y2

(2x2 + y2)2 – 4x2y2

By using the formula (a2 – b2) = (a+b) (a-b)

(2x2 + y2 + 2xy) (2x2 + y2 – 2xy)
