Solution :-

We have,

a2 – 14a – 51

By considering, p+q = -14 and pq = -51

So we can replace -14a by 3a – 17a

-51 by -17 × 3

a2 – 14a – 51 = a2 + 3a – 17a – 51

= a (a + 3) – 17 (a + 3)

= (a – 17) (a + 3)
